Hoping you are well as you read this. I recently made a trip to Lush and purchased a few bits for skincare and some comforting bathtime treats. So I thought I’d let you know what I thought of them, warts and all!
I’d been having some issues with my skin that I’d never had before – tiny bumps all over my forehead. I wasn’t sure whether it was because of waiting too long to shower after doing my fitness classes, or maybe the amount of sugar I’d been consuming. There was also the possibility that my skincare just wasn’t cutting it – so I thought I’d swap out a few things and see if that made a difference.
The skincare bits I purchased were the Vanishing Cream and the Tea Tree Toner:
As you can see I also purchased the Dream Cream for my body.
So honestly I was really disappointed with the Vanishing Cream (£18.95), at first it was going fine but within a week or so my entire face had broken out and even brought out a huge cystic spot on my cheek – NOT impressed, especially given the hefty price tag. I have since purchase the Celestial moisturiser (£14.95) to see if that was any better but alas, both just clog my pores like a mother****** so I have switched back to my Effeclar Duo – the old trusty!
The Tea Tree Toner (£4.75 for 100g which is lasting me ages) however I have tried with the Effeclar Duo moisturiser and my skin has since calmed down so this is obviously fine – great for acne prone skin and really refreshing. I use this twice a day when my skin isn’t feeling to happy clappy.
The Dream Cream (£6.95 for 100g) I’d say is good at what it’s designed to do, it is moisturising for sure but it’s so oily it never really sinks into my skin and just leaves an oily slippery layer on top of my skin. The scent isn’t really very exciting either so I don’t think I’ll be re-purchasing. Such a shame because I’d heard good reviews of it and the packaging is so pretty!
Now the bath stuff you can’t really go wrong with, I re-purchased something I’ve tried and loved before plus some other bits that are new to me.
Starting with the one I’ve tried and loved is the Comforter Bubble Bar – £4.95 –
Smells so delicious like super sweet and fresh Ribena and I love it – creates lovely, creamy bubbles that smell wonderfully sweet AND it turns your bath water pink without staining the bath – win win! I find products like this always make bathtime feel like such a luxury.
I also got the Butterball, the Ickle Baby Bot and the Avobath Bath bomb.
Butterball – £2.75
I have to say I am not a fan of the Butterball, I should have done my research on this one but it just left an oily layer on the top of the bathwater which then left an oily layer on my skin and as I think we’ve established – my skin just does not absorb oil. It smelt nice enough though! And I’m sure for someone with very dry skin who needs an oil treatment to keep their skin happy this would work really well, it’s just not for me.
The Ickle Baby Bot – £1.95 – I got as a little novelty item, he smells wonderfully of Lavendar but of course being designed for tiny baby baths he didn’t really do a lot in my big girl bath. He was very cute though!
The Avobath (£3.50) I’m sorry I didn’t remember to take a picture of 😦 silly silly me but I did enjoy this one, it’s not the most exciting but it did the trick and smelt lovely! It’s also one of the cheaper (but definitely not the cheapest) bath bombs, which is always a win with me as I always feel the bath bombs are a little over priced.
I discovered something in this trip which I will definitely be re-purchasing when I’ve used it up – the Plum Rain shower gelly – £5.50 for 100g. This is one of the best scents ever, so fresh and lovely I actually look forward to using it in the shower and a little bit goes a long way.
So there you have it, my honest Lush review of all the products I’ve tried lately.
I hope this was helpful if you’re looking to try any of these items soon and I would LOVE any recommendations you have.
Until next time, much love
